Kellin sang a couple of these songs acoustically with Nick (guitar) and you could really feel the connection he had with the crowd – making eye contact and reaching out to his fans. If I’m James Dean You’re Audrey Hepburn, Legends, With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear, Cheers, Roger Rabbit, We Like it Loud, Go Go Go, and Kick Me, were all part of their set-list. There was such a great balance and flow of songs – it was beautiful hearing everyone sing the lyrics. Their set was a little over an hour long and they played songs from their newest album – Gossip – and from their older albums as well. Soon after, Sleeping with Sirens came on stage – member by member, each rocking their instrument as they walked out. I had also never heard their music before but their energy was so contagious! As soon as I got back to my hotel room I added a bunch of their songs to my playlist.

They’re the only artists I know that make an effort to connect with their fans on a deeper level – they always take the time to have a genuine conversation with you after a show. It always amazes me how kind the three brothers are as well. I was so excited they were on this tour! Not only are their songs so intense and great to rock out to, but they have an incredible stage presence. Up next was Palaye Royale – my all time favourite rock band. I had never heard their music before but they were so great at engaging the crowd that it felt like I had! At one point in their set one of the members, Clinton, started playing the saxophone and the crowd kind of lost it! It was so awesome to see such a beautiful instrument, which is seldom used in today’s alternative music scene, being played. The show started with Chase Atlantic – an alternative/indie rock band from Australia. The venue has about a 600 people main floor capacity so it was pretty intimate! I knew my friends and I were going to get crazy close to the front soon enough. When we walked inside everybody was already starting to group around the front of the stage, so we did the same. We kind of just stood there awkwardly smiling and looking in his direction, hah! Kellin (lead singer) walked out at some point during that hour to talk to someone, and it was funny because everyone was so in awe of him that nobody said anything. The line was pretty long but I met two super sweet girls – we started talking and before we knew it we were getting ready to walk in. I got to the venue about an hour before the doors opened. When I had the chance to tell this band how their music had helped me and they were nothing but kind and caring, all I wanted to do was see a headlining Sleeping with Sirens show… That was definitely the case for me last year. I’m sure many of you agree that music is sometimes the only thing that can turn your mood around and give you the motivation or peace you need to get through your day or a rough time. In my opinion, Sleeping with Sirens is one of the few bands in the alternative music scene with songs that you can blast when you’re happy, having a night out, feeling hopeful, feeling down, or anything in between.

I’ve been listening to this band for a couple of years and I don’t even know how to explain the impact their music has had on me. by the way), Sleeping with Sirens was playing a show at The Opera House in downtown Toronto with their friends Palaye Royale, The White Noise, and Chase Atlantic. Well, guess what? The night before I had to travel back (and wake up at 5 a.m. I started a new job recently and I was flown out to Toronto last Monday for a three-day on-boarding program (I live in Vancouver). I mean it was only four days ago, but, you know what I’m trying to say here.
